what to expect

General overview:

  • I place a strong emphasis on meeting you “where you are,” giving you ample time to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors at your own pace.  At the same time, I gently encourage movement toward your goals by providing a safe space for skill-building and meaning-making. 


Approach to psychotherapy:

  • My approach to therapy is problem-focused. This means that in our first few sessions we will come up with a tentative plan about the course of treatment and how we will focus our time together. 
  • Once we have developed your treatment goals, we will re-assess them periodically to ensure adequate progress is being achieved. 
  • My intervention will be revised as needed to fit your personal goals.


Course of treatment and follow-up:

  • Duration of treatment will depend on your specific situation and needs.

  • In order to achieve the most of our sessions, I prefer to see clients on a weekly basis but depending on your progress and goals, I may suggest reducing or increasing the frequency of our sessions. 

  • Towards the end of therapy, we will discuss several options for follow-up and determine the best course of treatment for you.
